Blue Skies

It has been very nice weather here for the past few days. Blue skies and not quite as windy as it was. Thursday, we had to go to South Padre to hang up a banner for our show tonight. The water was so blue!

On the way back, we stopped at the lighthouse on Port Isabel. We were going to go up inside of it, but didn't feel like spending the money to do it. Sometime we will..

This evening, we play on South Padre. I'm hoping to spend a couple of hours on the beach beforehand. :)

We start home in just 19 days! I'm so excited. I have the tendency to want to start packing now! There are lots of things here in south Texas that are great, but it will be soo good to be home for a few days.

But, in the meantime...I will continue to waste time on Pinterest :) It's more fun knowing I will have a home of our own soon! So exciting!

An Update

Hello everyone! It's about time I finally wrote about something.

All of my days seem to be running together lately. Friday, (I think), we played in Edinburg, TX at a small park. Our friend, Dalton Harper of the Harper Family did a song with Tate. It was so awesome! I really didn't know Tate was that good on guitar!

The next day, we went bowling at the new Bass Pro down here. It's just about 3 or 4 miles from us..quite handy. They have the "Fish Bowl" bowling alley..it looks so neat inside! Almost like you are in the inside of an aquarium. The best part of that game of bowling was...I won. :)

 We played a gig at Long Island Village, but on the way, we were able to stop by the beach. It was a much more pleasant day than it was when we were there last. I could sit and watch the water for a long time.

Tate and I are really excited about this summer! We are going to be able to settle down and have the opportunity to give piano, banjo, guitar, and dobro lessons. We will be able to accept students somewhere around May. If anyone is interested, let me know!

23 days till we get to go home for a visit! I can't wait!!!

A Week's Worth

I have not been able to post in quite a while. Too many things going on! Last week, we played a few times, but the highlight of my week was getting to go stay on South Padre Island with Tate!

 We stayed at a little hotel just a block away from the beach. It was neat..all of the floors were tile. Very beachy :)

We went and drove out to the beach, but it was quite chilly both of the days we were there. It was still a lot of fun, though.

A dead, sand-covered, cabbage head jellyfish. They were washed up all over the beach.

The next day, we went and ate at Dirty Al's, a really, really good seafood place on the island. I had flounder and chicken. Tate had a peel -and- eat shrimp platter.

After leaving the island, we drove about an hour to Edinburg, TX, so see our friends, the Punches Family. They did a great job singing and playing! They even had Tate play a couple with them, and me sing one. It was fun! 

Last night, First Baptist of Combes (where we stay) had a fellowship after church for Tate and I. It was so nice! ..and good food, too. :)  They were so kind, even though most of them didn't know me. 

The latest news is...my family won't be able to come down and visit after all. The plane tickets are entirely too expensive, so we are just going to drive up and see them! What a shame :) I miss Missouri so much! The palm trees and sand are really cool, but it's not home. We will get to come home exactly a month from today, and we will be able to stay about 10 days. I'm SO excited! 

Today, we are going to go around and hang posters at the upcoming RV parks we play at. We have a gig tonight, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Very busy!

This last week has been pretty busy with so many things going on. I totally forgot to take any pictures. Oh well, most of these RV parks look the same anyway!

We have been playing the last couple of nights, with a day off here and there. We have had great crowds the last few nights, which is great! This coming week, we are off today, play tomorrow, and then we have the whole week free till Saturday! Thursday and Friday, Tate and I are taking off to South Padre Island and staying the night there. I can't wait! With Priceline.com, I have been able to get 4 star hotels for under $40! Since this is the off season at South Padre, some of the hotels are as low as $22. 

We are settling in a little better now. I finally have my own things hanging on the wall, and stuff setting where I want it. I'm still trying to find a solution to plastic totes being used as a dresser. Oh well, it's probably a good work out to lift two heavy totes anytime you want a new shirt. :)

Hopefully...if all goes as planned, my family will be here in about 18 days! I can't wait! I have missed them all SO much!

Settling In

I do believe that Tate and I are finally starting to settle in a little more. I can actually find things now! The room is looking much better. I will post pictures as soon as the walls aren't bare anymore.

Yesterday, the weather was SO nice! They recently built a new Bass Pro, just about 5 minutes from where we stay, so we stopped in and checked it out. The palm trees on the outside kinda throw you off :)



This Bass Pro also has a bowling alley that is attached to the store. As soon as some of our friends come down, we will be making use of it for sure!

Later that afternoon, Tate and I went to 3 of the RV parks that we play at this week, and hung some of our new banners. Hopefully, people won't forget since they'll be driving by our banner everyday! I think they really look sharp.

Here is one of the signs that a park had already put out. It's comical to see and hear what people end up calling us.

Tonight, we played in McAllen at the McAllen Mobile Park. We had a pretty good turnout, too!

We even met a couple tonight that live in Mountain Grove! Mountain Grove is a much nicer town than McAllen...I don't quite understand all of these winter Texans.

Gotta love the Christmas lights...everywhere!

We got to wear our new show clothes tonight. Red, white, and black. I think this is my favorite colors so far..it looked really sharp on stage.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping and couponing day. It is really nice to have Walgreens, CVS, and Target within 10 miles!

Better get some rest!

I decided to redo my blog for this month. Pretty, huh?

The last few days, Tate and I have been settling in a lot more. Saturday night, we played at Port Isabel, which is right before you get to South Padre Island. I was able to play my keyboard for the first time, which I was so excited about!

It wasn't a very luxurious rec hall, but a ton of people came, and they even served ice cream :)

One of the neat things about this place, was several of the shrimp boats were docked right behind the building. The smell wasn't too good, though.

We wanted to watch the fireworks over the ocean, but we weren't able to get the bus close enough to the beach. Oh well.

Sunday morning, we were able to go to church here in Combes at First Baptist. The place was full and there was great preaching!

Sunday night, we had to play at an RV park in McAllen. Tate and I sang a new song, Corn for the second time. It wasn't our best, but we made it through! The video will be loaded eventually.

This afternoon, we went to Mercedes to a huge outlet mall. Within 15 miles, there is every store imaginable!

We are really enjoying the weather. It was in the low 70s today and breezy.

Tonight for supper, we had chicken and dressing casserole, green beans, and a good salad. I was SO proud of myself. I'm becoming a better cook than I thought was ever possible!
